Columbus, OH – Tragedy struck the heart of Columbus early Friday morning as a fatal shooting at the Avalon nightclub on North 5th Street claimed the lives of two individuals, 28-year-old Desmond Taylor and 36-year-old Ceilin Smith. The Columbus Division of Police received reports of gunfire at Avalon nightclub at approximately 1:45 AM. Officers arrived on the scene to find a chaotic and distressing situation, with four individuals suffering from gunshot wounds. Among the victims were Desmond Taylor, who was pronounced dead at the scene, and Ceilin Smith, who succumbed to his injuries shortly after being transported to Grant Medical Center in critical condition.
