Louis Mohana, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and visionary entrepreneur from Houma, Louisiana, passed away on July 21st, 2024, at the age of 75. Louis Mohana was a visionary entrepreneur who, together with his wife Jennifer, founded Louis Mohana Furniture in Bourg. The store, which began in a converted horse barn on Highway 24, grew over 44 years into an impressive 80,000-square-foot showroom, employing hundreds of people in Terrebonne Parish. This growth was not just a testament to Louis’s business acumen but also to his commitment to his community and the values he held dear.

From a young age, Louis had a love for fast cars and engines, a passion that he carried with him throughout his life. This enthusiasm extended to horses, and he took great pride in watching his daughters compete in championships. Louis and Jennifer’s commitment to their business and community was unwavering. They hosted special events and supported local causes like St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital and the Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center. Louis Mohana is survived by his devoted wife Jennifer Crochet Mohana; their four loving children, Tricia Summers (Brian), Joseph Mohana (Julie Miller), Anne Watson (Philip), and Katharine Mohana; his four grandchildren, James Summers, Jack Summers, Julia Watson, and George Watson; and his sister, Jean Mohana Giglio. He also leaves behind two beloved dogs, a white lab and a golden retriever, who were so cherished that each had two stints at doggy bootcamp.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Louis J. and Mae Mohana. The family wishes to extend a tremendous and heartfelt thanks to Dr. Russell Henry, the VitalCaring staff, the Louis Mohana Furniture employees, and many caregivers who supported Louis and his family during his final days.

Visitation will be held at St. Ann Church in Bourg on Friday, July 26 at 9:30am, with a Mass of Christian Burial following at noon. The graveside service will be private. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital or St. Ann Church in Bourg in Louis’s memory.
