Dave Heaton Obituary, Death – At the age of 49, David A. Heaton, who resided in Mount Pleasant, passed away at his residence on Sunday, May 22, 2022 from natural causes. David was born in Mount Pleasant on July 12, 1972. His parents, David and Carmen (Crawford) Heaton, were his parents until his birth. He graduated from Mount Pleasant High School in 1991, having participated in a Rotary exchange program to South Africa during his junior year. During that time, he was present in South Africa.

During his time at Luther College, David not only participated in the illustrious Nordic Choir but also received a bachelor’s degree in political science. The Iowa Wesleyan University was the institution from which he obtained his teaching credential.

A member of the Minneapolis National Lutheran Choir, David was employed there. In both West Liberty and Durant, he was a social studies instructor for middle school and junior high school students.

After that, David started teaching in other countries, and he went to other countries like Guayaquil, Ecuador, and Cartagena, Colombia, to teach American history. In the present moment, he was working as a social studies instructor at Danville middle school.

In addition to being a voracious reader, David’s love was singing in a choir. David’s parents, David and Carmen Heaton, of Mount Pleasant, as well as his sister, Mary and Ben Carrick, of Omaha, Nebraska, as well as his niece and nephew, Sophie and Patrick Carrick, as well as his aunts, uncles, and cousins, are among those who are left behind after his passing.

In addition to his grandfather and grandmother, he was predeceased by his grandparents, Ward and Jean Heaton and Philip and Viola Crawford. On the Saturday, May 28, 2022, at eleven o’clock in the morning, there will be a memorial service held at the Olson-Powell Memorial Chapel. Next, the deceased will be laid to rest in the St. Alphonsus Cemetery.

On Friday, May 27, 2022, visitation will take place from 1:00 to 6:00 pm, and the family will be there to greet friends from 4:00 to 6:00 pm. The Iowa Wesleyan University Choir has been the recipient of a memorial fund that has been established. The funeral ceremony will be broadcast live on the Facebook page of Powell Funeral Homes as well as on the website powellfuneralhomes.com.
