Joyce Groshens Obituary, Death – On November 22, 1937, Joyce Copper Laffey was born to her parents, Harold and Emma Copper Laffey, at their house in the rural area of Dolliver, Iowa.
The eldest of her three siblings, she was the oldest. Playing basketball and taking part in school plays were two activities that she enjoyed doing during her time in school. In the year 1956, she received her diploma from Dolliver High School.
Following graduation, she worked for PG Grays Chicken plant and also worked as a telephone operator in Estherville, Iowa. Both of these jobs were located in the same city. After that, she became acquainted with Lloyd Groshens, the man she would spend the rest of her life with.
Dolliver, Iowa was the location of their wedding, which took place on January 4, 1959. Following several years of residence in Estherville, they relocated to the Groshens farm, which is located in the rural area of Jackson, Minnesota. When it came to beginning their family, Lloyd and Joyce did not waste any time.
Joyce was able to be a stay-at-home mom for many of her children’s younger years when they were growing up since they were blessed with four children: Diana, Linda, Robert, and David. Each of these children was a blessing. Through the years that followed, she had positions at Blum’s Candy, Red Owl, and the Jackson Hospital until she finally retired in 2006.
They had been married for sixty years until Lloyd passed away on May 13, 2019, ending their marriage. Through the years, she took pleasure in the numerous camping excursions that she went on with her family and friends.
She was also an active member of the Middle Town women Club, where she enjoyed playing cards and interacting with other people. She was a wonderful cook, and she was always the one who provided the numerous pies for the Christmas get-togethers.
Joyce’s favorite things to do included going on trips with Lloyd, tending to her flower gardens, gardening, working outside, and spending time with their children and grandchildren.
Joyce did not devote a lot of time to herself; she was constantly finding ways to keep herself occupied, whether it was by taking care of her family or by taking care of other people. There are a lot of people who will miss her since she was a fabulous mother.
