A 20-year-old man has died following a deadly shooting that happened at a Walmart in Punxsutawney. The victim has been identified as Alex Roy. According to reports, Alex Roy passed away on Monday, March 11, 2024 after he was shot by his brother Branson Roy.

Who was Alex Roy? Born in DuBois on January 16, 2004, Alex was the cherished son of Daniel Albert Roy and Rebecca Lynn (Lunger), as well as Paul Wehrle, all residents of Punxsutawney.

Alex was a bright and promising young man, having graduated from Punxsutawney Area High School at the age of 20. His recent joy was amplified with the arrival of his son, Greyson Nayati Roy, whom he celebrated with his fiancé, Alissa Tarr-Merchel.

Throughout his life, Alex found passion and exhilaration in the thrill of riding dirt bikes, engaging in Motocross, and participating in AWRCS woods racing. These pursuits not only brought him joy but also allowed him to form lasting bonds with fellow enthusiasts. As the community reflects on Alex’s life, they remember a young man full of vitality, enthusiasm, and a zest for life.

His presence brought light and warmth to those around him, and his memory will forever be cherished by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Survived by Survived by his fiancé Alissa, son Greyson, his parents, a brother, Branson Roy and wife Brookelyn of Rossiter, a half-brother, Daniel Roy of Mechanicsburg; maternal grandparents, Jean and Randy Lunger of Rossiter, paternal grandparents, Albert and Loretta Roy of Punxsutawney and Ed and Lisa Sikora of Mahaffey; paternal great grandmother, Elaine Sikora of Punxsutawney; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. Preceded in death by Preceded in death by his maternal great-grandparents, Betty and Frank Boston; paternal grandfather, Rick Wehrle, paternal great-grandfather, Joseph Sikora.

Alex Roy obituary Friends will be received from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday, March 14, 2024, at Shumaker Funeral Home, Inc., Punxsutawney. In lieu of flowers and gifts, memorial donations may be made to Alissa Tarr-Merchel and baby Greyson.
