Mary Main Obituary, Death – Mary spent her upbringing in Duluth, Minnesota, where she received her education at The Marshall School, worked as a teletypist at the Wolvin (Missabe) Building, attended The College of St. Scholastica for roughly one year to study nursing, and tied the knot with Calvin S. Main in 1948. Mary attended The Marshall School for her education. Sarah was born and raised in the city of Duluth. She started her 49-year marriage on the Iron Range, which eventually carried her all the way around The Great Lakes, from Michigan to Ohio, and finally brought her back to Duluth, where she was born and raised. Her marriage has lasted for 49 years.
A total of 49 years passed throughout her marriage. In spite of the fact that Mary’s primary career was that of a housewife, she did spend a brief period of time working outside the home as a unit secretary at St. Luke’s Hospital. The principal role that Mary played in her life was that of a housewife. Throughout the course of her life, she has continually stated that if she had the chance to go back in time, she would have chosen to continue her interest in medical records. She has made this statement on multiple occasions. Besides her other tasks, she also worked on an ad hoc basis as a sales associate for high-end garment boutiques. This was in addition to her overall responsibilities.
Irrespective of the fact that she possessed a sizable wardrobe and took pleasure in wearing it, she never managed to put on even a single pair of trousers in her whole life. The place of worship that Mary attended on a consistent basis during her entire life was St. Michael’s Church in Lakeside. Mary was a devout participant in the Catholic faith, and she made this choice each and every day. When she was in her latter years, she was a faithful participant in the Saturday afternoon Mass that was offered at The Cathedral of Our Lady of the Rosary. She attended this Mass on a regular basis. Not necessarily in that order, Mary had a deep affection for dogs, good friends, good neighbors, her children and grandchildren, café mochas, old movies, particularly those about World War II, margaritas, slim cigarettes, breakfast at Bridgeman’s, organizing an annual get-together for her husband’s retired colleagues, butter-soaked shrimp, and lilacs.
She also had a deep love for lilacs. In addition to that, she had a profound regard for lilacs. Her tendency to have a sense of humor was the feature that made her the most endearing, despite the fact that Mary was a tough Irish woman of Scottish blood. This was the quality that made her the most lovable. She made it her mission in life to make other people laugh, and she did so frequently and for no apparent reason more than once. It was because she had a strong sense of humor that she was able to keep her resilience and feistiness even when she was presented with challenging circumstances. One of the terms that was used to characterize her was “Spitfire,” and it was used by those who knew her very well.
After Calvin died in 1997, Mary lived independently, always with a dog at her side, in her Lakeside home for a total of forty-nine years – coincidentally the same number of years she was married – until she suffered a stroke in April 2020, at the beginning of the COVID pandemic, which brought about vascular dementia, and it was COVID that got hold of her in the end. She leaves behind a son named Craig L. Main and his wife named Sandy, a daughter named Catherine Alexandra Main and her husband named David Preis, a granddaughter named Rachael Main, and a grandson named Aaron Main. She also leaves behind a grandchild named Aaron Main. She is also survived by a grandchild who goes by the name of Aaron Main.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 26, 2022, between the hours of 10:00 am and 11:00 am, and it will take place at St. Michael’s Catholic Church, which is located in Duluth, Minnesota at 4901 East Superior Street. The date and time of the visitation are not yet determined. It is scheduled that a Christian funeral service, also known as a Mass, will take place at eleven o’clock in the morning. An event commemorating the deceased will take place in Calvary Cemetery in Duluth, Minnesota, in the United States of America. Her siblings, Winston Peterson and Eloise Covell, as well as her parents, Andrew L. Peterson and Helga E. Peterson (Hansen), both passed away before she was born. Her husband, Richard S. Main, also passed away before she was born. Her mother and father did not have any other children. Her children, Jim Main (Val) of Mason, Jane Main of Lakeview, Marilyn Jasonowicz (Mark) of Torch Lake, Paula Hall (Kelly) of Vandalia, and Paul Main (Joan) of Six Lakes, as well as her grandchildren, Ted, Charles Main, Jacklyn Petlicki, Daniel, Joseph Main, Kevin, Kailyn Jasonowicz, Jill Zagar, Heather Rhodes, and Jordan Hall, as well as her sister Nettie Jane Eskin of Armada, Michigan, and her sister-in-law Eva Main of Lakeview, are among those who are able to carry on her legacy.
