Jason Nelson Obituary, Death Cause – Unfortunately, Jason Nelson, who served as the Director of Caldwell Emergency Medical Service (EMS) and was a resident of Pratt, Kansas, has passed away. He was 47 years old when he passed away on Sunday, March 24, 2024, as a result of an accident. The 19th of June, 1976 found Jim Nelson and Susan (Downing) Jacobs welcoming their son Jason Jacobs into the world in Manhattan.
He was a son, husband, father, and brother who was devoted and compassionate to his family. Throughout his life, he was known to be extremely cheery and was willing to give anyone anything he had. We will miss him tremendously since he was a man who was dedicated and worked very hard.
Following his graduation from Rock Creek High School, he continued his education by enrolling in Garden City Community College and earning an Associate of Arts degree. According to Jason’s professional path, he has been working as a dedicated paramedic for Pratt County Emergency Medical Services (EMS) since the year 2018, while simultaneously holding the position of Director of Caldwell EMS.
As part of his extended career in emergency medical services, he worked at Harper County, Mulvane, Medicine Lodge, and Kansas Heart Hospital, among other places. His time spent working as a flight paramedic for LifeTeam resulted in a key turning point in his professional life. It was at this time that he not only served in a professional role but also found love and met Megan, who would later become his partner.
Jason was a proud member of the Kansas EMS Association (KEMSA) and the Kansas High School Athletic Association (KSHSAA), with which he refereed high school basketball games. He was also actively involved in the emergency medical community.
Having served with Grant County Fire and Rescue and Jackson County Fire and Rescue, his dedication to public safety stretched beyond the realm of emergency medical services. In order to demonstrate his adaptability and commitment to becoming an expert in a variety of crafts, Jason acquired his abilities as a Certified Pipefitter prior to beginning his career in emergency medical services.
In addition to his professional endeavors, Jason valued his free time and participated in a wide variety of activities during his free time. In addition to being a devoted fan of Kansas University athletics, particularly basketball, he took great pleasure in going to games and following his favorite teams. As an additional point of interest, he delighted in activities such as going on cruises, fishing, hunting, and spending time with his cherished dogs. His talent for fun and leisure was well-developed, as seen by his fondness for watching the ID Channel and his infrequent trips to casinos, where he appeared to be on a winning streak each and every time. His genuine enthusiasm for life, along with his unwavering commitment to his work and the community, left an indelible mark on everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.
Jason Nelson is survived by his infant twins, Jordon and Jessica Nelson; his grandparents, Orlin and Lona Downing; his grandfather, Francis Nelson; and his best buddy, Nathan Cowger. He was preceded in death by his infant twins. In addition to his wife, Megan Nelson, who resides in Wichita, he is survived by his kids, Kenzie, Kylie, and Kinley Nelson, all of whom reside in Hiawatha. Cremation has taken place, according to the obituary for Jason Nelson. The family will receive visitors from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 28, 2024, at the Larrison Mortuary, which is located at 300 Country Club Road in Pratt. Visitation will take place from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Larrison Mortuary will be the location of a Celebration of Life service that will take place on Friday, March 29, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. Pastor Tom Walters will preside over the event.
