He fulfilled his lifelong dream of retiring in Monroe, spending 29 years in his beloved “little place overlooking the sea.” Throughout his career, Chester dedicated himself to public service, serving diligently in various provincial departments.

Joys of Life

In his leisure time, Chester found joy in simple pleasures, such as navigating the waters of Smith Sound in his boat, solving crossword puzzles, and immersing himself in books, often about historical figures like Sir Winston Churchill. He had a profound love and empathy for animals, especially his cherished visitor, Caspurr the cat, whose daily visits brought him immense joy.

Final Wishes

In accordance with Chester’s wishes, cremation has taken place, and no formal service will be held. The family kindly requests that those who wish to pay tribute to Chester consider making donations to their local animal shelter, such as the S.P.C.A, or to the Children’s Wish Foundation of Newfoundland and Labrador. Even a simple gesture like providing food for animals would be appreciated in memory of Chester’s compassion for all creatures.
