John Baker Obituary, Death Cause – A sense of loss has been felt throughout the community as a result of the passing of Francis LeRoy Baker, a committed former employee of Swoyersville Borough. It was Roy, who was cherished by everyone who knew him and who devoted decades of his life to serving the city, who laid the foundation for his legacy of honesty and loyalty to the town.

During the year 1982, Roy began his career with the Swoyersville Borough as a police officer working on a part-time basis. As a result of his remarkable work ethic and unflinching dedication, he was successfully promoted to the position of full-time police officer in the year 1989.

Roy has been a devoted member of the community for the past seventeen years, until he finally decided to retire in October of 2006. During his stay at this location, Roy served in a variety of capacities, including providing his services as a juvenile officer in Swoyersville and as an expert witness for the Luzerne County Drug Task Force.

Additional evidence of his commitment to law enforcement and community service was provided by the fact that he played a pivotal role as the secretary for the FOP Lodge 36. Not only did Roy have a prosperous profession, but he was also a well-liked member of the community whose sympathetic personality had an impact on the lives of a great number of people. Because of his unrelenting dedication to serving and defending the people of Swoyersville, he was held in extremely high regard by the residents of the entire borough.

In addition to his tremendous achievements in the corporate world, Roy was a devoted family guy who was liked by all family members. In the Baker family, the legacy of Roy Baker, who is the father of John Baker, who is currently the director of emergency management in Swoyersville, continues to inspire and motivate his children. Those individuals who had the good fortune to have known him have said that the principles of his devotion, honesty, and service are still carried with them today.

During this time of community mourning over the loss of a really remarkable individual, we want to let Roy’s wife, Joanne, and the rest of the Baker family know that our thoughts and prayers are with them. They have suffered a significant loss, and we are here to offer our most heartfelt condolences to them during this difficult time.

For those who are interested in attending, the next obituary will include information regarding viewings at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, which is located on Hughes Street in Swoyersville. Additionally, the dates and hours of the viewings will be given.

As we gather together to pay our respects to Roy, may we find solace in the sacrifice and kindness that he made possible for us to experience. We would like to express our most sincere gratitude to you, Francis LeRoy Baker, for everything that you have done for Swoyersville Borough. May you finally find the peace that you deserve.
