Helen Rayles Obituary, Death – Helen S. (Smith) Robertson Rayles, who had lived in Frankfort for her entire life, passed away at the age of 89. It is with great sadness that we share the news of her passing. Helen left this world on April 2, 2024, at Wesley Manor, surrounded by the affection of her family and friends. She had made her journey to the next realm. Helen Smith was a cherished daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, and friend.

She was presented into the world on November 3, 1934, by her parents, Ivan R. Smith and Minnie (Downs) Smith. Helen’s life was characterized by selflessness and service to others. She pursued her enthusiasm for education and earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Indiana University and a Master of Arts degree from Butler University, respectively. She is a proud alumnus of Frankfort High School.

During her 26 years of service as a teacher and guidance counselor at Clinton Central Schools, she had the opportunity to transmit knowledge and wisdom to a large number of kids, thereby making a positive impact on their lives. Her devotion to her faith as a member of St. Matthew United Methodist Church was the only thing that could compare to her dedication to education.

When Helen had any spare time, she found fulfillment in working for a variety of groups in Frankfort. She exemplified the spirit of charity and community through her work. Her legacy of love and compassion will be cherished for all time since she was a wonderful mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Her legacy will be passed down to future generations.

To pay tribute to Helen’s memory, a Celebration of Life will be organized at a later time; specifics will be provided at a later period. St. Paul Cemetery in Forest, Indiana will be reserved for the interment of the deceased. As an alternative to sending flowers, memorial contributions can be sent to the Clinton County Humane Society, the Clinton County Boys & Girls Club, or the St. Matthew United Methodist Church organization.

Ellen is survived by her daughters Robin Lauth (and her husband Bob) of Carmel and Kim Vonderahe (and her husband Mike) of Kokomo, her son Rusty Robertson (and his wife Cindy) of Cave Creek, Arizona, her sisters Patty Smith (and her husband Frank) of Florida, Mickey Hodson of Frankfort, Jane Rodkey (and her husband Dave) of Frankfort, Joan Elliott (and her husband John) of Jefferson, her step-children John Cassim and Katherine Forsythe of Oregon, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and a large number of other relatives and friends. Bennie and Jim Smith, her two brothers, and her sister, Norma Smith, all passed away before her.

Her parents and both of her wives all passed away before her. May the memories we enjoyed with Helen and the legacy of love she leaves behind bring us peace during this time of sadness.

May we find solace in these things. During this trying time, the family is receiving assistance from Clinton County Crematory and Goodwin Funeral Home, which is located at 200 S. Main Street in Frankfort Pennsylvania.
