John Passidomo Obituary, Death Cause – Florida Senate President Kathleen Passidomo’s husband John Passidomo has sadly passed away. He died after a tragic hiking accident. He was confirmed dead through a post that says “My wife, Dot, and I would like to offer our condolences to Florida Senate President, Kathleen Passidomo and her family, as they mourn the sudden loss of John Passidomo, the First Gentleman of the Florida Senate”.
Passidomo hails from Jersey City, New Jersey, and pursued her higher education at Trinity Washington University in Washington, D.C., where she obtained her Bachelor’s degree in 1975. Later, she ventured to the state of Florida, graduating from the Stetson University College of Law with a J.D. degree in 1978. Settling in Naples since 1979, Passidomo embarked on her legal career, co-founding the esteemed law firm of Kelly, Passidomo & Alba LLP.
Her entry into the realm of public service commenced in 2010 when she vied for the 76th District seat in the Florida State Legislature, left vacant by Tom Grady. Passidomo’s uncontested victories in both the Republican primary and the subsequent general election solidified her position as a respected voice representing constituents stretching from Naples Park to Chokoloskee along Collier County’s western coast.
Subsequently, in 2016, Passidomo sought to represent Florida Senate District 28, succeeding Garrett Richter. Overcoming a competitive primary against state representative Matt Hudson, she secured a decisive victory, obtaining 58% of the Republican primary vote. Her journey to the general election was met with minimal opposition, facing only write-in candidates.
Beyond her political endeavors, Passidomo has been deeply involved in various community leadership roles. Her peers elected her as President of both the Collier County Bar Association and the Collier County Women’s Bar Association.
Leveraging her legal expertise, she has contributed significantly to the betterment of numerous civic, charitable, and business organizations, aiding them with corporate documents and governance structures. Notably, Passidomo played a pivotal role in establishing the Collier County Juvenile Justice Council and served as Co-Chair of the Community Engagement Initiative of the Education Foundation of Collier County-Champions for Learning (“Connect Now”). She also held the positions of President of the Southwest Florida Land Preservation Trust and Chair of The United Way of Collier County’s Board, showcasing her commitment to fostering positive change within her community.
