The identity of the victim in the shooting incident at a Dayton residence on Wednesday has been confirmed. Montanae Davis, a 26-year-old resident of Dayton, succumbed to her injuries at Miami Valley Hospital, as confirmed by Montgomery County Coroner Dr. Kent Harshbarger.

The shooting incident occurred at approximately 2:49 a.m. in the 700 block of Torrington Place, as reported by Montgomery County Regional Dispatch. Upon their arrival at the residence, officers discovered the victim, later identified as Davis, and immediately initiated life-saving procedures, as stated by Dayton police Lt. Steven Bauer.

Medical personnel arrived shortly after and transported her to the hospital, where she succumbed to her injuries. According to records, a 911 caller reported receiving threatening calls from her ex-boyfriend. The man mentioned by the woman in the call was apprehended Wednesday afternoon and taken into custody at the Montgomery County Jail.

He faces preliminary charges of murder, aggravated robbery, and aggravated burglary. As of Thursday morning, he remained in custody, although formal charges had not yet been filed, as per booking records. Subsequently, another woman made a call to dispatch from the same address, reporting that a man had forcibly entered the residence through the back door while she was asleep at her friend’s house.

According to dispatch records, the caller stated that the man was armed with a gun and had assaulted her friend. She further mentioned that she possessed a firearm and had discharged it in response to the situation.
