Michael Cavanagh Obituary, Death – Born on July 16, 1961, Michael David Cavanagh passed away on March 13, 2024. Michael Cavanagh, a loving son, brother, husband, father, uncle, grandfather, and friend, passed away last week as a result of leptomeningeal carcinomatosis, a rare consequence of bladder cancer.

It is with the deepest sorrow and shattered hearts that we announce his departure. My deepest gratitude goes out to the amazing medical professionals, nurses, social workers, and staff members that worked at Victoria and University Hospital as well as St. Joseph’s Hospice during this difficult period.

Mike was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, but his life has taken him all over the world due to the numerous adventures he has had. When he was the Director of Opera for the Royal Swedish Opera in Stockholm, Sweden, his career as a world-renowned opera director reached its zenith.

He was the director of opera for the Royal Swedish Opera. Even though his work, which was original, ambitious, and frequently funny, was praised on stages all over the world, his true heart was when he was at home with his family in London, Ontario, Canada.

Mike was known as the athletic guy in the world of arts, while he was known as the artsy guy in the world of sports. He was a true sports fan, a very good golfer, and he enjoyed working on a never-ending list of home improvement projects.

Despite the fact that he may be remembered primarily for his brilliant body of artistic work, his devoted family will always remember him as their one and only “Mikey.” He was a cherished son and brother, a cherished uncle, a special Grancha to Alden, the most encouraging and supportive father to Amelia, and a devoted spouse and soulmate to Jackie, his Truelove.

Mike will be lovingly remembered by everyone who had the good opportunity to meet him, whether it was on the rugby field, the golf course, the rehearsal hall, or anywhere else in between. He will be deeply lamented and passed away before his time.

Michael is survived by his wife Jackie Short, his daughter Amelia Pipher Cavanagh, his grandson Alden Bram, his mother Angela Stevens, his brother Carl Cavanagh Arlene, his sister Christine Morley, his step siblings Sandy Stevens Ron de Gaust and Brad Stevens Hemmy, as well as by his in-laws, Matthew and Karen Short, Doreen Totten, and Lisa Short, as well as a large number of nieces and nephews who adored him.
